Christmas Vacation Park City, UT

It was a big surprise after all the Christmas gifts were opened we told the kids we had one more surprise. We walked them into the toy room and there sat 3 cute little suitcases filled and ready to go to UTAH! They were so excited they started jumping up and down screaming and yelling... We left about 2 hrs. later for the airport. The airport was a madhouse! Complete and utter Chaos. Who knew everyone traveled on Christmas? But....Everyone did great. The lines were SOOOOO long, Thank goodness for the very short flight (about an hour) outside of LA.

It was later when we landed, UT is an hour ahead of LA, so it was dark. Nothing and I mean nothing was open. (Mormon Country) So for our Christmas dinner Eric grabbed ham and cheese and a couple bags of chips and water from the Gas Station and thats what we ate. No one was complaining they were so excited to be in this beautiful house we rented. 4 Bed/4 bath. Eric started a fire and they all curled up in front of it. It was COLD (for us) only 22 degrees.
The next day they were dying to get in the snow. They were so excited. Austin woke up and was complaining that I didn't pack his shorts, then we opened the door and realized that this was not "Shorts" weather! Mela had no idea what this white stuff was all about but everyday she woke up she asked to go play in the snow!

We even had to shovel the drive way and walk way since it snowed there the day before we arrived.
 It was BEAUTIFUL!!!

The first day we went sledding. The house we stayed at had 4 different kinds of sleds in the garage so we kept those in the car.

We met up with Eric's co -workers Ben & Viv and they have a little boy, Blake who is 8m old. Mela thought he was HER real life BABY. She loved " Baby Blake"!

We even went night sledding. That was pretty cool, but SUPER DUPER COLD!!

The boys did 2 days of ski school and 2 days of snowboarding school. (Kain only did one day of snowboarding... I think he was really tired by day 3) but AUSTIN loved it and did it 2 days. We went to the outlets to go shopping one of the days the boys were gone. School was from 845a-3:45p. They were worn out when we picked them up but loved it so much.!

The houses were so cute. Very close together and so super awesome with great views. Our home was amazing! 3 levels and all. The boys slept in one room with twin beds. (of coarse they didn't want to sleep alone) and Mela we made a make shift bed in our HUGE walk in closet. She thought it was her own little room. The room she was going to stay in was on the 3rd floor and we didn't want her so far away from us. She slept great in her "Closet"

We were really hoping it would snow one of the days we were there because we thought it would be so cool for the kids to see snow falling. Sure enough, on the last day after we picked up Austin from Boarding school, it snowed. AND a lot. This was the road we were driving on. Could barely see right in front of us.

We were in this area that you park your car at the bottom of the drive and take a snowmobile up to your actual house. This was right in front of us on the road.
The last night we surprised the kids with a horse and carriage ride thru the WOODS. It was beautiful. They loved it. It was a 30 min. ride. It was snowing and totally beautiful! We started out at this LOG CABIN and had hot chocolate and snacks. WE got to sit by the fire and keep warm. The boys even enjoyed a snow ball fight.

Mela thought she was going to get to "ride" the horses.....

This was also New Year's Eve night... so we came home had dinner and let the kids stay up as long as they could. It didn't last too long they were so tired. But they had fun celebrating!

It was a great way to bring in the New Year and a great way to end our Trip!
Everyone was sad to leave. Austin says he wants to live in UT so he can snowboard everyday. He did so well and really loved it! He is still talking about it. Kain did super well too. He advanced 3 levels on the skis on the first day of class. AND the teacher told us he's funny and the kindest little boy...
They did well at the airport but were kinda antsy to get home. Our flight ended up being delayed over an hour or so..... but thank goodness for Technology!

Austin loves his new Chicago Bears, Bear. He brought it with him and kept it close the entire trip!
The airport had this little section with a TV and cartoons were playing so this kept them busy for a while!

Mela decided tights were not necessary since we were heading back to 80 degrees in LA.

 Few extra's from my phone...
AUSTIN loves SNOWBOARDING!!!
The gondola on the ride up to "Canyons" the resort we skied at.
Kain was a awesome skier! He loved it too!!!! He was so good. One day we found him and got to watch him for a bit.

Eric and I had fun too. Couple other friends from his company were in UT too so we meet up with them a lot for lunch and drinks and hot chocolate at the resort they were all staying at. Just so happens to be the place the boys went to ski school. They all have kids too so they all got to play together.

Eric went up one day and got this picture from the top of the hill. It's beautiful, isn't it!!
After a long day of snowboarding.
They were not in the same class because they went by age, but they got to see eachother a few times on the mountain.
We had lunch two days in a row at this pub. Mela was having so much fun hanging with her little baby, Blake.
It was such an amazing trip. The boys are still talking about it. Tonight at dinner I asked them what their favorite part of Christmas break was.....
Austin: "Having dad home with us for two weeks, with no work, no computer, no cell phone. AND SNOWBOARDING! I can't wait to tell my friends I went SNOWBOARDING for Christmas break"
Kain:"Getting my Justin Bieber microphone and marker and airbrush set and Karaoke Set and learning to SKI."
Mela: "Playing with "Baby Blake"

It was so nice having Eric home with no other worries and getting away as a family and being together out of LA. This trip was for sure one of the best things we could have done!
Hope everyone had a great Holiday. Here's to making more "Memories" in 2014! The best is yet to come!
