Sun = fun

Another fun weekend here! Baseball games, birthday parties and water fun!We took the boys to a little league World Series Qualifers game on Saturday. Right down the street. They loved it! They had hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, yogurt shakes. The works. Just like being at Wrigley-but much cheaper-LOL!
The neighbors met us there, Jaime and Kain are 3 months apart. (Jaime is older)
Kain clapped at every play!
Austin loved being at the game. He was asking all sorts of questions. He ate 2 hotdogs too. He was loving it! (Something about a ball game hotdog!)
Austin walked home and Kain and Jaime took a wagon ride. It's 5 minutes from our house. Games going on all week. I'm sure we will be back!
Austin and Kain playing before going to the next event.....
Me and Ryann. Saturday we went to Mark's 40th Birthday party celebration across the street. It was a lot of fun and nice to be right across the street!
The kids had a blast! Miko, Kain and Lily

Summer Break

It's officially "SUMMER BREAK". That's what Austin likes to call it, but.. it is. It's SUMMER BREAK! We had another fun weekend...
Austin decided his car needed to be washed this afternoon, so he cleaned it! It looks great and boy you should see those wheels!

We also went to the Greek Festival in town for lunch this afternoon. Great food, good Greek music, dancing, games and jump castles. Kain loved all the Greek food. He ate almost all of the Loukoumathes (deep fried puffs of dough covered in honey) Yum, he couldn't get enough!

KOOK-A-ROO

Although Kain did not go in the jump castles, Austin of coarse LOVED It!
On Saturday, Eric and I went to the CUBS-DODGERS GAME! CUBS WIN:7-3. We must be lucky because the CUBS have not been doing well this year.
Dodger's Stadium, LA

Best seats in the house---Bleacher's-front row. A home run-(made by the CUBS) was hit 4 rows above our head. It was HOT--87 degree day.
Friday--Funday

We had a playdate Friday afternoon with our neighbors across the street. Daniel and his sister Sophia have a sweet keyboard the boys LOVED...Hey, the Wood boys have talent!!!

Never a dull moment over here...... I'm pretty sure it's going to be a great Summer!

Just Arrived!

So today we waited for our car to be delivered. While Austin was at school, Kain pulled up his stool, grabbed his Vermillion County Sheriff flashlight and waited by the door. starring at the door, I must add. It was so cute. He was talking to the door, trying to say words such as his favorite, "bird", "bird" "Mama". He's too quick, I did not get it on video. But he sure is cute, isn't he! Don't let that little face fool ya--he's still our kook-a-roo!And.. here it is. Our 2011 Honda Pilot. Austin says he would like to "keep this car" (Feew.. Thank goodness) we have his approval!
The car did not arrive until after Austin's school day, so yes, I did pick him up in the "old car". On the way home from school Austin kept asking me if I was sad to not drive this car anymore (the white one). I told him that I was excited to drive a new car. After thinking about it a while, he said he wasn't sad either. He wants to be in a new car too. He would say things like, This is the last time I will open the window and kick the seat. The best of all, " Mom, this car is so dirty, dad would be mad if he saw it" (Funny, Right) But the question kept coming up the entire drive home from school. "Are you going to miss this car, mom"?
It's cute to see him trying to figure this all out. His little mind was going.......

Now you ask.. what in the world are we doing with 3 cars and no garage? Check this out. Eric's car is going to be parked in the carport, the white car, Eric will drive since we already payed for July, (why not run it to the last mile, right)? And the Pilot... well, I'll be driving that all around town, to the beach, through the McDonald's drive-thru, soccer practice, swim lessons, school, the gym and wherever else we need to drive. We will be sure to put it to good use.

Our very handy neighbor, who has a very inquiring mind gave us some fun facts I thought I could share with you tonight:

The Pilot is exactly 1 in shorter than the Mazda
The Pilot is 7 in. wider than the Mazda
The Pilot is 2 in. higher than the Mazda

Oh I can't remember the rest, but I do know the tape measure was all over the two cars. Funny! :)

As far as the inside... well, we are going to just leave that all to your imagination. If you want to see it- you'll have to come out and visit!! HINT HINT!

Long weekend Fun!!!

We had so much fun this long weekend!! Eric took off Friday and had off Monday and we spent everyday doing something fun. Friday we went out to our friends house,( Mindy and Mick, Gavin and Kaitlin) in Tustin, CA (Orange County, Ca) It was so much fun. Gavin and Austin use to go to school together here at Coastal Kids and then he moved after Christmas. They have a beautiful home and a really nice pool in their gated community! The kids loved to play in the pool. This is the first time they really got to "play" and not take a "swim lesson" so they were really enjoying themselves.

Mindy and Mick grilled hot dogs for the kids and carne asada for the adults. It was soo good!

Kain and Kaitlin were so cute, they were drying off together!
Austin and Gavin loved the kiddie pool.

Gavin just celebrated his birthday and he got a jeep, just like Austin's car.
When we got home we did a few fireworks in the back. All the neighbors came out to join us. Even our neighbors across the street. Fireworks are illegal in Ca. because it is so dry here. No, the cops did not get called on us! We just had "popper" and noise makers. Oh wait, the back neighbors pulled out some shooting sparklers. The kids loved it! It was SO LOUD!
Sunday, July 4th we headed to our party on the beach. There were 16 couples and kids. I met most of them through play group with Kain. We all were to bring a dish that was pre-planned by the hostess. I want to share this menu, because it's like no other....Talk about a P A R T Y!!!!!!!

The Menu: recipes attached

Drinks: soda, beer, wine, vodka cocktails

1 Rum Runner drinks and herb-infused spa water

2 Arugula, mozzarella, tomato on Focaccia

3 Halibut salad sandwich

4 Portobello mushroom and goat cheese sandwich

5 Stuffed Summer sandwiches

Side: (I think if we follow the recipes we should have enough to share with the group)

6 Oriental Chicken Salad with crunchy ramen noodles

7 Corn arugula salad

8 southwest style quinoa salad (Jaimee & Eric)

9 Israeli Couscous Salad with Asparagus, Cucumber and Olives

Desert:

10 Striped Ice cream cake

11 Some cookies, brownies etc.)

12 Chips/Dip

Here's part of our group. The hostess came out at 6:30am to reserve our spot on the beach, but was too late to get the volleyball courts. The beaches were PACKED!!!!

Kain loves the sand!!!
What a party! We had so much fun!!
Stay tuned.. never a dull moment with the Wood Family! Hope you all had a healthy, happy and Safe holiday!!!
