Austin's soccer practice

So, I did get many pics today, but it was so hard to get a nice video of Austin scoring a goal. He's such a fast little runner-he scored before the camera could even click on. But he's a shot at it anyways!
Kain also loves to be at Austin's soccer practice because he can crawl all over the field!

Two busy boys

I have two very busy little boys these days. It rained again this week and the neighborhood becomes so quiet when this happens. Not in our house. Austin and Kain-they know how to keep busy! Austin painted while Kain played with all the toys (no limits since Austin was so into his work.) Austin was so proud of all his artwork he displayed it along the hallway. He was so proud of himself and so was I. Kain kept to himself and played away. I sometimes think they are just happy being in the same room together!
What a happy life!

The other side... Kain walking outside!

Austin had his friends over after school today (Kaiden and Vinnie) and Kain was dying to get out there and play with the boys. He was jumping up and down in his play-center, so I ran inside and grabbed his push toy. He was so excited he walked all the way over to Bob & Linda's garage. It was so cute. Once he made it over, he turned around to see what the boys were doing and was so happy to have walked all the way to "the other side". I think he was looking to see if anyone had seen him do this. He was so proud of himself! (as he should be!!!!)
This was his first time walking outside.. I better get this little guy some "Walking shoes" soon. :)

JUST DANCE

Words cannot describe how adorable this was to see tonight.. Take a look for yourself.
Too cute to not get on tape! Who do you think started it.... Kain or Austin????

And... We're off. (almost)

So Kain started walking with his push toy. (Austin in the background decided to run the Dust Buster) Thus, the noise. :)

And today... he's all over the house. It's SO CUTE! Check out the window scene. (He's blowing kisses) MWAH!

Big Storm in California

Well, looks like Austin is all ready to go jump in the puddles today. :) This weather is crazy! Downed trees (one specifically laying in our front lawn), sideways wind and rain and lots of flooding on the street. This is Manhattan Beach Pier at the start of the storm this morning around 8:30am. The streets were quiet, shops were not busy and EVERYONE was hitting the breaks. The only people out were the guys surfing. (see pic below)
The weather is calling all week for rain and 20 foot surf. Meaning the waves will hit as high as the pier in this picture.
This is the calm before the storm. We're trying to imagine waves coming up 20 feet high.
This is just the beginning.. but the good thing is, we don't live on the Ocean. Some of the homes walk right out to the beach. Those folks will probably need to evacuate!
The Surfers. Aren't they Crazy? Our front yard around 12pm today.
AND.. it was sunny and beautiful by 4pm. Very strange weather for CA!

Getting back into the swing of things!

It was exactly 3:50pm and this is what the sky looked like. I can't complain because the weather here is great. But we started off Sunny, by lunchtime it was sunny and warm, by the time soccer was over, we had our windows down and sunroof open and when we returned home after errands we ended up at a park. But, by 3:50 it was misting in the air and the temps had dropped 13 degrees. Time to grab a sweatshirt. They call this the Santa Anna winds stirring in. You think it's going to pour down rain in a matter of seconds, but it never does!I'm so proud of Austin. A new soccer league started today and not knowing anyone or the field he played on, he ran out there like a champ and scored TWO goals! (just like he was a natural at it). He is pretty good-I have to give him credit (and not just because he is my kid!)
Austin just loves his new bike and I can't help but leave it out so it's all ready to go in our early mornings. It's preferred over cartoons these days. I think it's because he has a "hot wheels" game and he is able to choose the car he's driving. Kain get's just as much excitement by watching him, but as soon as Austin leaves the room, he looks both ways and CRAWLS as fast as he can over to the bike to check it out! It's so cute.
Austin is so excited to be back playing with his best bud, Logan. Not only do they go to school together, but Logan and his mom, Jaimie come over after school on Wednesdays to play.
The cutest thing ever was (this past Wednesday) When Logan was on (Kain's toy) Kain was on his new Rody and Austin was on his bike. Then ... they switch. Well, Kain get's the short end of the deal and remains on the Rody, but he likes it. He thinks he's "Playing with the boys". so he's happy!
This is how our mornings have been going. Get up, get dressed, run downstairs to get on the bike. So Kain doesn't feel left out we pulled his toy over so he thinks he is "Playing" with Austin.
Our breakfast has moved from Kain at the counter, Austin on the bench to Kain at the table (we figured out how to move his high chair to fit the table) to Austin asking to sit right next to him in the chair. Austin even offers him food. (waffles) in small pieces. Austin obviously does not take after Eric if he's offering his food to Kain. Kain loves the attention from Austin!!!
And usually the cereal get's spread all over the table or dropped on the floor for Peyten to eat!
On Tuesday our boxes finally arrived from Chicago. Just when I thought we were heading out the door to go to the park, the mailman came to ring our doorbell. We stood in the doorway like 3 kids waiting on Christmas as the mailman carried all 7 boxes in our house. It was pretty funny. Austin was jumping up and down. Lucky me I opened all the boxes and distributed all the gifts like it was Christmas all over again, minus the wrapping paper. Then I put all the toys together. Needless to say, we never made it to the park.
This is how it looked. My house was quite calm while I cleaned everything up, put away the new things, etc. Austin played with his toys, Kain played with his. I had to get a picture b/c I knew no one would believe me. They were so entertained and so happy to have the new toys. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse!
Too Cute for words. Kain fell fast asleep like this on me and I transferred him to the couch (not knowing if he would stay asleep) and Austin decided to lay down on top of him. I was a little nervous about the situation, but they slept for close to an hour just like this. I couldn't dare leave the room because I did not know how long it would last, but it did and they were just so cute! Kain was Austin's pillow. Go figure!

Summer In January?

Today could almost be called, "Summer in January" with temps reaching 82 degrees! We decided since it's Eric's last day before he goes back to work and out of town we would venture out to San Pedro. It's only about 20 minutes from our house. We went to the Pacific Electric Railway San Pedro Waterfront Red Car.
It was so cool to see. There was a fountain that went off to music, (just like you would see in Vegas) and a trolley car that took us to 4 different stops. You pay $1 for adults and the kids were free-for the entire day! What a deal.

Port of LA Waterfront Red Car Line

Kain was SOO excited to be on the train ride. We tried to capture his excitement...because it was so cute to see him so excited. He could hardly contain himself, jumping up and down like he was a kid in a candy shop.. Austin enjoyed it just as much, but was happy sitting in the seat with his dad!

A Very Happy New Year!

Nothing like bringing in the New Year with family and friends. What a fun day. It was so beautiful out. (nearly 60 degree difference from Illinois)! We were outside most of the day and spent the evening in with great friends to ring in the New Year! And YES, we did make it up until Midnight.. Thank goodness for WII!
The New tent Austin and Kain received for Christmas. (since our "original" tent) never made it back to California from Chicago. By now.. we hope it's found a nice place at Ella & James' house. ?? Although this is not "Star Wars" like the original one Austin got from Santa.. Ikea never seems to fail us................and it seems to do the trick!
Austin and Kain really enjoy playing in it together, it stays in Austin's room, but that's mainly where the boys play.. so I'm sure Kain doesn't mind!
One of Austin's Best Friends, Peyten. The boys are SO SO glad she is finally home. Peyten is loving all the extra attention!
Peyten seems to follow them in every room. Not sure how much she enjoys Austin all over her :)
You know how I always say, "when all else fails, bring out the wagon"? Kain LOVES going on wagon rides.. about as much as he loves his bubble baths...He now sits in an actual seat in the wagon, (seat-belted) of coarse!
Austin is SO excited we got the WII out. He's reading the directions so he can get it all hooked up to the TV!HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope yours was as exciting as ours! Here's to a great 2010!
